HSK45030 is a small molecule G protein-coupled receptor 84 (GPR84) antagonist being developed by Haisco Pharmaceutical for the treatment of muscular dystrophies, including Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) and Becker muscular dystrophy (BMD). GPR84 is a pro-inflammatory receptor primarily expressed on immune cells such as macrophages and neutrophils. In the context of dystrophin deficiency, chronic inflammation and subsequent fibrosis are major drivers of muscle degeneration. By antagonizing GPR84, HSK45030 aims to mitigate these inflammatory processes and reduce muscle fibrosis, potentially slowing disease progression and preserving motor function. The drug is currently in early-stage clinical development, with Phase 1 trials evaluating its safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics in healthy volunteers using a dispersible tablet formulation.
