HSK50042 is a potent and selective small molecule antagonist of the lysophosphatidic acid receptor 1 (LPAR1), currently under development by Shanghai Haisisenno Pharmaceutical Technology (a subsidiary of Haisco Pharmaceutical Group) for the treatment of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). The LPAR1 pathway is a well-validated target in fibrotic diseases, as its activation by lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) triggers fibroblast recruitment, vascular leak, and the release of pro-fibrotic cytokines. By inhibiting LPAR1, HSK50042 aims to attenuate the aberrant wound-healing response and lung tissue remodeling characteristic of IPF. The drug is currently undergoing Phase 1 clinical evaluation to assess its safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics in both healthy volunteers and patients with IPF.
