HSP638DP is a novel monoclonal antibody designed to target the insulin-like growth factor 1 receptor (IGF-1R). Developed by Zhejiang Boxiao Biopharmaceutical, it is primarily being investigated for the treatment of thyroid eye disease (TED), an autoimmune condition characterized by inflammation and expansion of orbital tissues. By antagonizing IGF-1R, HSP638DP inhibits the activation of orbital fibroblasts, thereby potentially reducing proptosis, diplopia, and orbital inflammation. As of 2024, the candidate is in Phase 2 clinical development in China, following successful Phase 1 safety and tolerability studies in healthy volunteers.
