Drug intelligence / Profile preview
HSPG2 siRNA is a small interfering RNA (siRNA) designed to target and silence the expression of heparan sulfate proteoglycan 2 (HSPG2), also known as perlecan. HSPG2 is a major basement membrane proteoglycan that plays critical roles in cell adhesion, tissue remodeling, and viral entry. In preclinical research, silencing HSPG2 with siRNA has been shown to inhibit hepatitis B virus (HBV) entry and replication in hepatocytes by downregulating the sodium taurocholate co-transporting polypeptide (NTCP) via the c-MET signaling pathway. Additionally, HSPG2 siRNA has been investigated in oncology and fibrosis models to study the role of perlecan in tumor progression, chemoresistance, and tissue fibrogenesis.
