Overview

HST-001 is an injectable formulation comprising a subset of naturally-secreted growth factors, developed by Histogen for the treatment of hair loss, specifically androgenic alopecia. The product is also referred to as Hair Stimulating Complex (HSC) or HSC 660. Its mechanism of action involves intercellular signaling peptide and protein replacements, with a focus on stimulating fibroblast growth factor receptors (FGFRs). Clinical studies have shown that it can promote the growth of both terminal and vellus hairs in men with androgenic alopecia. The drug has demonstrated safety and tolerability in clinical trials but did not achieve statistical significance compared to placebo at primary endpoints. Development for alopecia has been discontinued[1][2][3][4][5][7].
