Drug intelligence / Profile preview
HST-004 is an investigational cell-conditioned media (CCM) solution being developed as a regenerative biologic for intradiscal injection to repair degenerative spinal discs. Preclinical studies from Histogen have shown that HST-004 stimulates resident disc stem/progenitor cells to proliferate and secrete extracellular matrix components such as aggrecan and type II collagen, regenerating normal matrix and cellular architecture, restoring disc height, and reducing inflammation and protease activity in ex vivo rabbit disc models.[1][3][5][9] The product emerged from Histogen’s hypoxia-induced multipotent cell platform and is positioned for orthopedic indications, particularly spinal disc repair, although its development status has since been reported as suspended in external pipeline tracking sources.[1][3][5][6][7][12]
