HST-28468 is an investigational therapeutic candidate developed by HemoShear Therapeutics that targets the Sodium/taurocholate cotransporting polypeptide (NTCP), also known as SLC10A1. NTCP is a liver-specific transmembrane transporter primarily responsible for the uptake of bile acids from portal blood into hepatocytes. It is also the essential entry receptor for the Hepatitis B virus (HBV) and Hepatitis D virus (HDV). HST-28468 was identified using HemoShear's proprietary REVEAL-EnCHIP platform, which models human disease biology to discover novel targets and drug candidates. The program is being developed for the treatment of infectious diseases, specifically viral hepatitis, and metabolic/endocrine disorders where modulation of bile acid transport is therapeutic. The development program explores both small molecule and mRNA-based modalities.
