Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is an mRNA-based therapeutic vaccine candidate targeting Herpes Simplex Virus Type 2 (HSV-2), developed by Eurocine Vaccines in collaboration with Redbiotec AG. The vaccine utilizes mRNA technology to encode specific HSV-2 viral antigens, aiming to elicit both robust T-cell (specifically CD4+ and CD8+) and humoral immune responses. Preclinical studies in murine models demonstrated that the mRNA platform produced superior T-cell responses, including higher levels of IFN-γ, IL-2, and TNF-α, compared to protein-based vaccine alternatives. Although initially promising, the development of this candidate appears to have been discontinued following the dissolution or repurposing of the developer's operations.
