Overview
HSY244 is a small molecule antiarrhythmic drug developed by Novartis for the treatment of atrial fibrillation. It was administered as an intravenous infusion and evaluated in phase II clinical trials for its ability to restore normal heart rhythm (cardioversion) in patients with atrial fibrillation, including those with and without heart failure. The mechanism of action remains undefined, and available data suggest that at the tested dose, it was not highly effective as a cardioversion agent. The drug was generally safe and well tolerated but frequently caused infusion-related arm pain or discomfort. Development of HSY244 has been discontinued following termination of phase II trials due to business decisions[1][2][3][4][5][7].
