HT-003IBD is a preclinical-stage peptide therapeutic being developed by Hoth Therapeutics for the treatment of Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD), including Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. Licensed from North Carolina State University, the drug is based on research from the laboratory of Dr. Scott Laster. HT-003IBD is designed to inhibit the production and secretion of pro-inflammatory cytokines, specifically Tumor Necrosis Factor-alpha (TNF-alpha). Unlike traditional TNF-alpha inhibitors that neutralize the cytokine after it has entered systemic circulation, HT-003IBD targets the cellular trafficking mechanisms responsible for the release of these inflammatory mediators. This approach aims to reduce intestinal inflammation more effectively and potentially with fewer systemic side effects than existing biologics.
