Overview

HT‑2157 (also known as SNAP‑37889) is a selective, orally administered small molecule antagonist of the galanin type 3 receptor (GALR3), which is normally activated by the neuropeptide galanin. By blocking GALR3, HT‑2157 increases serotonin release and has demonstrated antidepressant and anxiolytic effects in animal studies. It was developed for potential use in major depressive disorder, anxiety, and cognitive dysfunction. All human clinical trials were terminated due to safety concerns[2][5][8].
