HT-4253 is an orally administered small molecule drug developed by Halia Therapeutics. It acts as a potent and selective inhibitor of leucine-rich repeat kinase 2 (LRRK2), a key mediator of neuroinflammation implicated in the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease. By inhibiting LRRK2, HT-4253 aims to reduce chronic brain inflammation, potentially altering the progression of these diseases. The drug demonstrates excellent brain penetration and is currently being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials for safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics in healthy volunteers.
