Overview

HTMC0769 is an investigational, highly selective small molecule inhibitor of phosphodiesterase 4 (PDE4) developed by Shanghai Yidian Pharmaceutical Technology Development Co., Ltd. It is specifically designed as an inhaled formulation for the treatment of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), including cases triggered by severe viral infections such as COVID-19. By inhibiting PDE4, HTMC0769 increases intracellular levels of cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP), which serves to suppress the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines and stabilize the alveolar-capillary barrier. This mechanism is intended to mitigate the "cytokine storm" and reduce pulmonary edema, potentially improving respiratory function and clinical outcomes in critically ill patients. The drug has progressed into early-phase clinical trials to evaluate its safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetic profile in human subjects.
