Drug intelligence / Profile preview
HTU-PA is a recombinant human tissue-type plasminogen activator (rt-PA) developed by Global Biotech for the treatment of acute ischemic stroke. As a thrombolytic agent, it functions by catalyzing the conversion of the zymogen plasminogen into the active enzyme plasmin. Plasmin subsequently degrades fibrin, the primary protein component of blood clots, thereby facilitating the dissolution of thrombi and restoring blood flow to ischemic brain tissue. The drug was primarily evaluated in Phase 1/2 clinical trials to establish its safety, pharmacokinetic profile, and optimal dosing in patients presenting with acute ischemic stroke within the therapeutic window.
