Drug intelligence / Profile preview
HTX-011-19 is a specific subcutaneous formulation variant of HTX-011, a long-acting, extended-release fixed-dose combination of bupivacaine and meloxicam. Developed by Heron Therapeutics using its proprietary Biochronomer® sustained-release polymer technology, HTX-011-19 contains 58.5 mg of bupivacaine and 1.8 mg of meloxicam per 1 mL. It is designed for the management of postoperative pain, utilizing bupivacaine as a local anesthetic (sodium channel blocker) and meloxicam as a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (COX inhibitor) to provide dual-acting relief. The formulation was evaluated in a Phase I single ascending dose study to assess safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics in healthy subjects.
