Overview

HU-436 is a synthetic, non-psychoactive analog of cannabidiol (CBD), specifically the methyl ester derivative of cannabidiolic acid (CBDA). It was developed by researchers at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, including Professor Raphael Mechoulam, and licensed by 180 Life Sciences (formerly CannBioRx) through Yissum. The compound is a lead candidate within the company's Synthetic CBD Analogs (SCA) platform, designed to offer improved stability and therapeutic potency compared to naturally occurring cannabinoids. HU-436 is currently in preclinical development for the treatment of pain and various inflammatory conditions. To address the typical challenges of cannabinoid delivery, the drug is being developed in conjunction with ProNanoLipospheres (PNL) technology to enhance its oral absorption and bioavailability.
