Overview

Hu-MiK-Beta-1 is a humanized monoclonal antibody that targets the interleukin-2/interleukin-15 receptor beta subunit (IL-2/IL-15Rβ, also known as CD122). By binding to CD122 on certain immune cells and tumor cells, it blocks the action of inflammatory cytokines IL-2 and IL-15. This blockade inhibits the trans-presentation of IL-15 to T cells expressing IL-2/IL-15Rβ and the common gamma chain (CD132), thereby reducing pathological immune activation. The drug has been investigated primarily for conditions where aberrant IL-15 signaling is implicated in disease pathogenesis, including HTLV-I-associated myelopathy/tropical spastic paraparesis (HAM/TSP), T-cell large granular lymphocytic leukemia (T-LGL leukemia), refractory celiac disease, and other autoimmune or lymphoproliferative disorders. Clinical studies have shown that administration of Hu-MiK-Beta 1 can reduce pathogenic CD8+ T-cell responses in these diseases[3][4][5][8][9].
