Hu7691 is an orally bioavailable small molecule inhibitor of the AKT serine/threonine kinase (also known as Protein Kinase B), currently under clinical development by Zhejiang University. AKT is a central component of the PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling pathway, which regulates essential cellular functions such as growth, metabolism, proliferation, and survival. Dysregulation and hyperactivation of this pathway are common features in many human malignancies, contributing to tumor progression and resistance to therapy. By inhibiting AKT, Hu7691 is designed to disrupt these survival signals and inhibit the growth of tumor cells. It is currently being evaluated in a Phase 1 dose-escalation and pharmacokinetic study (CTR20233621) to determine its safety, tolerability, and recommended Phase 2 dose in patients with advanced solid tumors who have exhausted standard treatment options.
