Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Hua-Tan Tong-Luo (HTTL) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formula developed by the Yueyang Hospital of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine, affiliated with the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is specifically designed to treat castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC) and associated metabolic syndrome. The formula is based on the TCM therapeutic principles of resolving phlegm (Hua-Tan) and unblocking collaterals (Tong-Luo), which are hypothesized to counteract the pathological 'phlegm-stasis' environment conducive to tumor progression. Mechanistically, HTTL has been shown to inhibit the PI3K/Akt/mTOR signaling pathway, leading to the suppression of cell proliferation, induction of apoptosis, and regulation of lipid metabolism. It is often administered as a decoction or granule for oral consumption.
