Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Hua Yu Wan is a modern capsule formulation of the classic Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formula Bu Yang Huanwu Decoction (BYHWD). Developed by Xuanwu Hospital in Beijing, it is primarily indicated for the treatment and prevention of diabetic lower extremity vascular disease (DLEVD). The formula is traditionally used to 'tonify Qi' and 'activate blood circulation' to resolve stasis. In clinical settings, it is being evaluated in Phase 3 trials as an adjunct to standard care (including aspirin and metabolic control) to reduce the risk of rest pain and foot ulcers in diabetic patients with early to moderate peripheral vascular involvement. Each capsule typically contains 0.2g of herbal extract, with a standard dosage of two capsules taken three times daily.
