Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Huangbai Tongqi is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) granule formulation developed by Xi'an Xintong Pharmaceutical Research Co., Ltd. for the treatment of postoperative gastrointestinal motility disorder (PGID). It is specifically designed to accelerate the recovery of bowel function following abdominal surgery, aiming to reduce the duration of postoperative ileus. The preparation exerts its therapeutic effects through a multifaceted mechanism that includes the modulation of gastrointestinal hormones, such as motilin and gastrin, to stimulate peristalsis, and the reduction of local inflammatory responses (e.g., inhibition of TNF-alpha and IL-6) that typically contribute to gut paralysis after surgical trauma. Huangbai Tongqi is currently undergoing clinical evaluation in China as a modern TCM preparation.
