Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Huange Capsule is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) botanical drug product primarily investigated for the treatment of prostatitis, specifically in patients presenting with elevated prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels (typically 4-10 ng/mL). The formulation is believed to be derived from a combination of herbal extracts, such as *Phellodendron* and *Curcuma* (zedoary), which are thought to provide anti-inflammatory and anti-proliferative activities. It is used as an adjunct to conventional therapy to improve clinical symptoms and reduce serum PSA levels, thereby helping to differentiate between inflammatory conditions and prostate cancer and potentially avoiding unnecessary biopsy procedures. The drug is currently being evaluated in clinical trials led by the Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine.
