Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Huangjing Wan (HJW) is a classical Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formula recorded in the *Taiping Huimin Heji Jufang* (He Ji Ju Fang). It is traditionally formulated with three main ingredients: Huangjing (*Polygonatum cyrtonema*), Danggui (*Angelica sinensis*), and Heidou (black beans), prepared with honey. Huangjing Wan is primarily studied for its potential neuroprotective and therapeutic effects in ischemic stroke. Network pharmacology studies suggest that HJW contains multiple active ingredients (such as baicalein, beta-sitosterol, diosgenin, and stigmasterol) that target various biological pathways, including the Hepatitis B virus pathway, lipid and atherosclerosis pathway, and cell apoptosis pathway, to mitigate cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury.
