Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The Huangqi-Baizhu Formula (HBF) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal combination composed of two core botanical ingredients: Huangqi (Astragalus membranaceus) and Baizhu (Atractylodes macrocephala). It is primarily developed and studied by the Affiliated Hospital of Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine for the management of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The formula is intended to reduce the risk of 1-year hospital readmission in COPD patients by addressing TCM-defined patterns of lung and spleen deficiency. Clinical evaluation of HBF has involved target trial emulation studies using real-world electronic medical record data from multiple tertiary hospitals in China.
