Overview
Huangqi Guizhi Wuwu Tang (HQGZWWT) is a traditional Chinese herbal formula composed of five primary ingredients: *Astragalus membranaceus*, *Paeonia lactiflora*, *Cinnamomum cassia* (twigs), *Zingiber officinale*, and *Ziziphus jujuba*. Historically used to treat 'blood bi' syndrome and hemiplegia, it is currently being evaluated for its efficacy in improving cerebral hemodynamics in patients with intracranial arterial stenosis (IAPS). The formula's therapeutic effects are attributed to active compounds such as astragaloside IV and paeoniflorin, which have demonstrated neuroprotective properties and the ability to reduce cerebral infarction size in preclinical models. In clinical settings, it is often administered as granules to prevent the progression of arterial stenosis and reduce the incidence of stroke.
