Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Huangqi Shengmai Yin is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formulation primarily used to treat syndromes characterized by the deficiency of both Qi and Yin. It is a modified version of the classic Shengmai Yin formula, incorporating *Astragalus membranaceus* (Huangqi) alongside the traditional components: *Panax ginseng* (or *Pseudostellaria heterophylla*), *Ophiopogon japonicus*, and *Schisandra chinensis*. The formula is designed to replenish vital energy (Qi), nourish Yin, and promote the production of body fluids. In clinical settings, it is frequently employed for cardiovascular conditions such as viral myocarditis and coronary heart disease, as well as for chronic fatigue and autoimmune conditions like primary Sjögren's syndrome (sicca syndrome). Its mechanism involves immunomodulation and anti-inflammatory effects, helping to alleviate symptoms like dry mouth and eyes by addressing the underlying systemic deficiency.
