Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Huashanshen dropping pills is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) pharmaceutical product derived from the root of *Physochlaina infundibularis* (Huashanshen). The formulation is primarily indicated for the treatment of respiratory ailments, including chronic bronchitis and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Its therapeutic efficacy is attributed to the presence of tropane alkaloids, specifically hyoscyamine and scopolamine, which function as muscarinic acetylcholine receptor antagonists. By blocking these receptors in the bronchial smooth muscle, the drug induces bronchodilation and reduces airway secretions, thereby alleviating symptoms of cough and dyspnea. The dropping pill formulation is a solid dispersion technology intended to enhance the solubility and absorption of the active herbal components.
