Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Huashi Paidu Yishen is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) compound preparation developed by the Ningbo Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It was specifically formulated to treat COVID-19 patients who also suffer from chronic kidney disease (CKD) or are at high risk of renal impairment. The preparation is an optimized modification of the national "Huashi Paidu" formula—one of the "Three Formulas and Three Medicines" officially recommended in China for COVID-19 management—with the addition of kidney-tonifying (Yishen) herbal components. Its therapeutic approach is multi-targeted, aiming to inhibit SARS-CoV-2 viral activity, modulate the systemic inflammatory response to prevent cytokine storms, and provide renoprotection by improving renal microcirculation and reducing oxidative stress. It is typically administered in the form of oral granules and is regulated as an in-hospital preparation in China.
