Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Huaweiyi probiotics (also referred to by the code name BP-1) is a microbial therapy being investigated for the prevention and management of opioid-induced gastrointestinal side effects (OIGS), such as constipation, nausea, and vomiting. It is specifically being studied in patients with solid tumors who are experiencing cancer pain and receiving morphine treatment. The formulation works by modulating the gut microbiota to counteract the dysbiosis and intestinal motility issues typically caused by opioid analgesics. A prospective, multicenter, randomized, double-blind, parallel-controlled Phase 2 clinical trial (ChiCTR2200057262) has been initiated by The Second People's Hospital of Neijiang to evaluate its efficacy and safety in this patient population.
