Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Huayu Qutan Recipe is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) compound prescription comprising nine to ten herbal ingredients, most frequently used for the management of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases including atherosclerosis and heart failure. Its documented mechanism of action is multi-target and multi-pathway, involving the promotion of lipophagy, reduction of foam cell formation, cholesterol efflux, and cardioprotection through modulation of signaling axes such as mTORC1/TFEB/ABCA1-SCARB1, PI3K/Akt/Bad, and SREBP-2. Key ingredients include Codonopsis pilosula, Astragalus membranaceus, Gynostemma pentaphyllum, Salvia miltiorrhiza, Poria cocos, Pinellia ternata, Acorus tatarinowii, Ligusticum chuanxiong, and Curcuma wenyujin. Pharmacological studies demonstrate effects on STAT3, MAPK3, AKT1, JUN, MAPK1, TP53, TNF, HSP90AA1, p65, MAPK8, MAPK14, IL6, EGFR, EDN1, FOS, PTGS2, ESR1, AR, PTGS1, NOS2, SCN5A, PRSS1, GSK3B, PPARG, CCNA2, ESR2, ADRB2, DPP4, F10, and RXRA, among others, with downstream impact on mitochondrial function, oxidative stress, lipid metabolism, and inflammation.
