Overview
HuaYuTongBiFang is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formula primarily indicated for the treatment of Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) and other "Bi" syndromes characterized by blood stasis and meridian obstruction. The formula typically functions by promoting blood circulation, resolving stasis, and dredging meridians to alleviate joint pain, swelling, and stiffness. Mechanistically, it has been shown to downregulate the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β), and interleukin-6 (IL-6). Furthermore, it may modulate the RANKL/OPG signaling pathway, thereby inhibiting osteoclastogenesis and protecting against bone erosion in arthritic conditions.
