hUC-MSC-sEV-002 is an investigational exosome-based therapy consisting of small extracellular vesicles (sEVs) derived from human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (hUC-MSCs). Developed by The Affiliated Hospital of Qingdao University, it is administered via nebulization for the treatment of moderate to severe allergic rhinitis complicated by asthma. The therapy leverages the immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory properties of MSC-derived vesicles, which contain bioactive molecules such as proteins, lipids, and RNAs. These components are intended to modulate the airway immune microenvironment, potentially reducing Type 2 (Th2) mediated inflammation and airway hyperresponsiveness in patients who are suboptimally controlled by standard antiallergic therapies.
