Overview

hUC-MSC-sEV-003 is an exosome-based therapy consisting of small extracellular vesicles (sEVs) derived from human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (hUC-MSCs). Developed by The Affiliated Hospital of Qingdao University, it is specifically being investigated for the treatment of severe and profound sudden sensorineural hearing loss (SSNHL). These vesicles function as delivery vehicles for a variety of bioactive molecules, including proteins, lipids, and RNAs, which are thought to promote the repair of damaged auditory hair cells and spiral ganglion neurons while exerting anti-inflammatory and anti-apoptotic effects within the inner ear. In clinical settings, hUC-MSC-sEV-003 is administered via intratympanic injection, often as an adjunct to standard corticosteroid therapy.
