Overview

This investigational biologic therapy, developed by the University of Jordan's Cell Therapy Center, is designed for the treatment of chronic diabetic foot ulcers (DFU). The product consists of the complete secretome derived from allogeneic human umbilical cord mesenchymal stromal cells (hUC-MSCD), which includes conditioned media, extracellular vesicles (EVs), and exosomes. The active components encompass a variety of soluble growth factors, such as epidermal growth factor (EGF), stromal cell-derived factor 1 (CXCL12/SDF-1), and transforming growth factor beta 1 (TGF-β1), along with various cytokines. Administered via perilesional injection, the therapy aims to overcome the growth factor deficits and impaired angiogenesis characteristic of chronic cutaneous ulcers in diabetic patients. Clinical data from a Phase I/II trial indicates that the therapy is safe and effective in accelerating wound healing and preventing ulcer recurrence.
