Drug intelligence / Profile preview
HUC-MSCs + collagen scaffold is an investigational regenerative cell therapy consisting of allogeneic human umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells (HUC-MSCs) combined with an injectable collagen scaffold. Developed by researchers at the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Nanjing University Medical School (Drum Tower Hospital), the therapy is designed to treat premature ovarian failure (POF). The collagen scaffold serves as a biocompatible delivery matrix that enhances the retention and survival of the stem cells within the ovarian tissue. The mechanism of action involves the activation of dormant primordial follicles through the phosphorylation and regulation of the FOXO3a and FOXO1 signaling pathways. Clinical studies (such as NCT02644447) have indicated that intra-ovarian transplantation of this combination can rescue ovarian function, as evidenced by improved follicular development, increased antral follicle counts, and elevated estradiol concentrations.
