Overview

HUCMSC-derived extracellular vesicles (EVs) are an experimental, cell-free biologic therapy consisting of secretomes, including exosomes and microvesicles, harvested from human umbilical cord mesenchymal stromal cells (HUCMSCs). Developed by the University of Jordan, this therapeutic approach is being investigated for the treatment of stable, non-facial vitiligo. The EVs are administered via perilesional injection and are hypothesized to exert therapeutic effects by delivering a complex cargo of proteins, lipids, and nucleic acids (such as miRNAs) that modulate the cutaneous immune response and promote the survival and regeneration of melanocytes. This Phase I study primarily focuses on the safety and preliminary efficacy of repeated perilesional injections in adult patients with stable disease.
