Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Hudi enteric-coated capsule** is an oral, enteric-coated traditional Chinese herbal medicine approved in China for non-specific ulcerative colitis and chronic bacterial dysentery with a damp-heat syndrome presentation. The prescription contains eight herbal components: Polygonum bistorta, Polygonum cuspidatum, Oldenlandia diffusa, Patrinia scabiosifolia, Limonium bicolor, carbonized Sanguisorba officinalis, Bletilla striata, and Glycyrrhiza uralensis. It is manufactured by Anhui Joyfar Pharmaceutical as a 0.4 g enteric-coated hard capsule. Preclinical studies indicate anti-inflammatory and mucosal-protective activity in colitis models; polydatin, a constituent associated with Polygonum cuspidatum, has been implicated in modulation of the KEAP1-NFE2L2 oxidative-stress pathway and restoration of Th1, Th17, and regulatory T-cell balance. The product has also been evaluated clinically, including against mesalazine in active ulcerative colitis.
