Drug intelligence / Profile preview
HUEXC030 + isoniazid is a novel pharmaceutical formulation developed by Orient Pharma Co., Ltd., combining the standard anti-tuberculosis antibiotic isoniazid with a protective add-on excipient, HUEXC030. HUEXC030 is a chemical entity with a structure similar to sugar alcohols, specifically designed to mitigate or prevent drug-induced liver injury (DILI), which is a common and severe side effect of anti-tuberculosis therapy. The formulation is intended for patients with pulmonary tuberculosis, particularly those with high-risk genotypes that predispose them to hepatotoxicity. By incorporating HUEXC030, the treatment aims to maintain the antibacterial efficacy of isoniazid—which targets mycolic acid synthesis—while significantly reducing the incidence of anti-tuberculosis drug-induced hepatic injury (ATDH). The product is currently being evaluated in Phase 2/3 clinical trials.
