Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Hugan Pian is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formulation widely used for liver protection and the treatment of various liver disorders. It is composed of six active herbal and natural ingredients: Radix Bupleuri (Chaihu), Herba Artemisiae Scopariae (Yinchen), Radix Isatidis (Banlangen), Fructus Schisandrae Chinensis (Wuweizi), Pulvis Fellis Suis (pig bile powder), and Semen Phaseoli Radiati (mung bean). Hugan Pian is primarily indicated for chronic hepatitis, early cirrhosis, fatty liver, alcoholic liver disease, and drug-induced liver injury (DILI). It functions by soothing the liver, regulating Qi, invigorating the spleen, promoting digestion, and reducing transaminase levels. Heilongjiang Kuihua Pharmaceutical is a major developer and manufacturer of this formulation, and has evaluated its efficacy and safety in clinical trials for acute drug-induced liver injury.
