Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Humabody-deBouganin is an investigational therapeutic fusion protein consisting of fully human antibody variable heavy chain (VH) domains, known as Humabodies, conjugated to deBouganin. DeBouganin is a de-immunized variant of the plant toxin bouganin, which acts as a ribosome-inactivating protein (RIP). Upon binding to the prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) on the surface of prostate cancer cells, the fusion protein is internalized, where the deBouganin payload inhibits protein synthesis by targeting the ribosome, leading to cell death via apoptosis. This agent was initially developed by Crescendo Biologics and later became part of a collaboration with Sesen Bio for the treatment of prostate cancer.
