BP-001 (human adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cell) is an investigational cell therapy being developed by Bopin Good Biotechnology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. for the treatment of knee osteoarthritis. These mesenchymal stem cells are isolated from human adipose tissue and expanded ex vivo. Upon intra-articular injection, the cells exert therapeutic effects primarily through paracrine signaling and immunomodulation. They secrete a variety of bioactive molecules, including anti-inflammatory cytokines and growth factors, which help to modulate the joint microenvironment, reduce synovial inflammation, and stimulate endogenous repair mechanisms in the articular cartilage. The therapy aims to provide long-term pain relief and improve joint function by addressing the underlying inflammatory and degenerative processes of osteoarthritis.
