Overview

Human allogeneic HPyV-2-specific T cells (also known as CurePML in the context of its primary clinical study) is an investigational adoptive cell therapy developed by **Hannover Medical School**. The therapy consists of donor-derived T-lymphocytes that have been specifically sensitized to recognize and attack antigens from **Human Polyomavirus 2 (HPyV-2)**, more commonly known as the **JC virus (JCV)**. JCV is the causative agent of **Progressive Multifocal Leukoencephalopathy (PML)**, a severe and often fatal demyelinating disease of the central nervous system that occurs in severely immunocompromised individuals. By infusing these virus-specific T cells, the therapy aims to restore the patient's cellular immune response against the virus, potentially halting the progression of neurological damage and improving survival rates. It is currently being evaluated in Phase 2 clinical trials.
