Overview

This is a monovalent, whole-virion inactivated vaccine developed by Jilin Yatai Biological Pharmaceutical for the prevention of infection caused by the H5N1 subtype of the avian influenza A virus. The vaccine is produced using a reverse genetics strain grown in embryonated chicken eggs, followed by inactivation and purification. As a whole-virion vaccine, it contains the full complement of structural proteins of the virus, including hemagglutinin (HA) and neuraminidase (NA), which are the primary targets for neutralizing antibodies. It is typically formulated with an aluminum hydroxide adjuvant to enhance immunogenicity. The vaccine was approved by the Chinese National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) in 2008 as part of the national pandemic preparedness strategy.
