Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Human coagulation factor X is a plasma-derived, sterile, purified concentrate of human coagulation factor X used for the treatment and prophylaxis of bleeding episodes in patients with hereditary factor X deficiency. It is also indicated for the perioperative management of bleeding in these patients. Human coagulation factor X acts by replacing the missing or deficient endogenous factor X, which is a key serine protease in the coagulation cascade. Upon activation to factor Xa, it complexes with factor Va, calcium, and phospholipids to form the prothrombinase complex, which converts prothrombin to thrombin, ultimately leading to fibrin clot formation. It is developed and manufactured by Bio Products Laboratory and Kedrion.
