Overview
This investigational cell therapy consists of mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) derived from human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs). It is being developed by Anhui Provincial Hospital (The First Affiliated Hospital of USTC) in collaboration with Nuwacell Biotechnologies for the treatment of steroid-refractory acute graft-versus-host disease (SR-aGVHD). The therapy leverages the immunomodulatory and immunosuppressive properties of MSCs to mitigate the inflammatory response and tissue damage associated with GVHD. Administered intravenously, the iMSCs have shown high overall response rates in clinical trials involving patients with grade II-IV SR-aGVHD who have failed standard corticosteroid therapy.
