This is a combination of human insulin and one or more insulin analogues. Human insulin is a recombinant form of the natural hormone produced by pancreatic beta cells and is used to regulate blood glucose levels. Insulin analogues are genetically engineered variants of human insulin with modifications in their amino acid sequence to alter pharmacokinetic properties such as onset and duration of action. These combinations are designed to provide both rapid (or short) and intermediate or long-acting effects for optimal glycemic control in diabetes mellitus. The mechanism involves stimulating peripheral glucose uptake (mainly by skeletal muscle and fat), inhibiting hepatic glucose production, suppressing lipolysis and proteolysis, and enhancing protein synthesis[3][4][5][6]. These products are primarily indicated for the treatment of type 1 diabetes mellitus but are also used in type 2 diabetes when oral agents are insufficient[1][4].
