Overview

This is a personalized cell-based immunotherapy product consisting of **autologous B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia (B-CLL) cells genetically modified to express human interleukin-2 (IL-2)**. The approach involves harvesting leukemic B cells from the patient, transducing them to express IL-2, and re-administering them as a vaccine. The expression of IL-2 is intended to enhance the immunogenicity of the patient’s leukemic cells, thereby improving the induction of anti-tumor immune responses, such as leukemia-specific T-cell responses. Phase 1 clinical data indicate transient B-CLL-specific immune responses and partial reductions in tumor burden in some patients. However, immune suppression by regulatory T cells limited the duration of these effects. This therapy is experimental and designed to stimulate anti-leukemic immunity by increasing antigen presentation and T-cell activation via IL-2 secretion[3].
