Human mesenchymal stem cell (hMSC) paracrine factors are a biological preparation consisting of the secretome of hMSCs, which contains a complex mixture of bioactive molecules including growth factors, cytokines, and extracellular vesicles. Developed by the Navy General Hospital in Beijing, this specific formulation is concentrated 50-fold from cell culture media. It is being evaluated for the treatment of neonatal hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE), where it is hypothesized to exert neuroprotective effects, attenuate inflammation, and promote tissue regeneration in the damaged brain. Clinical studies have explored its use both as a monotherapy and as a sequential treatment alongside neural progenitor cell transplantation.
