Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Human normal immunoglobulin G is a purified preparation of polyclonal IgG antibodies derived from pooled healthy human plasma. It is used to treat a range of conditions including primary immunodeficiency disorders (to provide passive immunity), immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP), chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP), multifocal motor neuropathy (MMN), Kawasaki disease and other autoimmune or infectious diseases when more specific therapies are not available. The mechanism of action involves providing exogenous IgG antibodies that supplement the patient’s own immune system to fight infections and modulate abnormal immune responses. Human normal immunoglobulin is administered intravenously or subcutaneously depending on the formulation[1][2][4][8].
