The human papillomavirus 9-valent virus-like particle vaccine is a recombinant, prophylactic biologic developed by Shanghai Zerun Biotechnology, a subsidiary of Walvax Biotechnology. It is designed to prevent infections and associated diseases caused by nine types of human papillomavirus (HPV): 6, 11, 16, 18, 31, 33, 45, 52, and 58. The vaccine consists of the L1 major capsid proteins of these nine HPV types, which are recombinantly expressed in the yeast *Pichia pastoris* and self-assemble into non-infectious virus-like particles (VLPs). These VLPs are adsorbed onto an aluminum phosphate adjuvant to enhance immunogenicity. The vaccine targets the prevention of cervical cancer, anal cancer, vaginal cancer, vulvar cancer, and anogenital warts. It has completed Phase I clinical trials and is currently undergoing Phase III clinical evaluation in China.
